The Delta is considered one of the largest fluvial geographical features in the world. It is the only freshwater delta that drains into another similar basin, the Río de la Plata. “The Delta is formed by the sedimentation of the Paraná River and is constantly growing.
Its islands are shaped like deep plates, with elevated shores or banks and depressed centers of marshy terrain. The area is a wetland, because it is flooded permanently or intermittently, which generates a hybrid ecosystem between aquatic and terrestrial.
The varied vegetation is made up of native and exotic trees, reeds, aquatic plants and some 300 species of birds.
